The earliest photo I found was probably taken by her mother Julia of Laura looking at her daddy Charles Jones in her birthplace of Poe, Ohio.

Laura apparently grew up fast, or at least without much notice, because I found no other photos of her before the age of 20. Perhaps it was because it was the Depression? As a child she was sad to realize her mother had to cook and serve up their own pet chicken to the family in order to survive those times.

In NYC, seeing her brother Dick off to war and then fighting the war effort herself, doing jobs the men left behind.

Laura in the prime of her life and living in New York City loved listening to Frank Sinatra and had a crush on Julius LaRosa! She also loved Bobby Darin’s “Mack the Knife” and the sound of the Mills Brothers.
